Puttu / Steamed Rice Cake

Ingredients :-

1.Chemba or Raw Rice Flour - 1 cup
2.Shredded Coconut - 1/2 cup or as required
3.Salt - to taste
4.Cumin Seeds - 1/4tspn (optional)
5.Water - as required

Preperation :-

1.Mix salt with flour first in a mixing bowl.
2.Now add warm water little by little and mix the flour with hand. Make sure that u will crush all the lumbs n clumbs formed while adding water.
3.Mix the flour thoroughly with cumin (crush it if needed) and water in such a way that you can make a small ball with your hand when the flour is held tight (hold gently) in your palm and it is back into wet powder when it is crushed with your hand.
4.Once you are done with the flour, keep it closed in a bowl with airtight lid and keep it aside.
5.Keep water in puttu kudam ( a pot which comes with puttu maker ) and bring it to boil.
6.Now take puttu kana ( puttu maker ), add some coconut first and fill half of the kana with flour mix and again some coconut and now fill the kana with flour and finally add a little coconut on the top.
7.Keep this on top of the pot and make sure it stays tight on it. Steam it for 8-12 minutes and take it out.
8.Take it out with the help if a small stick or with the handle of a big spoon.
9.Serve it hot.
