Chakkara Choru/Jagerry Rice

Chakkara is a kind of jagerry. But i usually make this sweet dish with jagerry. And say what?? This is one of my favourite sweet. This is my mom's recipe. She used to make it atleast once in a week. Now you can guess how much i love it right? My mom use to make it either with raw rice or parboiled rice. Very recently, my hubby brought home a pack of brown rice just to give a try. I cooked it but we both didnt like the taste. I just cooked half of a cup just to get the taste. I throwed it away. But i didnt feel like throwing entire pack because i saw those $$$'s blinking. Hmmm.. so confused. Suddenly this Jagerry rice came to my mind and the very next day i prepared it. Guess what?? It came out so good that i think this rice is the perfect one for jaggerry rice recipe. Me, my hubby and our 18months old son liked it very much. So if you want to eat brown rice without any taste issue, try this out. And jagerry is said to be a safe sugar. So no worries about sugar and calorie intake. Cheerss!! Let me share my recipe.
Ingredients
1.Jagerry - 1cup (melted)
2.Brown Rice - 2 cups
3.Fatfree Milk - 4cups
4.Cardamom - 1/2 tspn (powdered)
5.Dry Ginger - 1/4tspn (powdered)
6.Salt n sugar - to taste
Preperation :-
1.Wash brown rice well and pressure cook it with salt and sugar to taste.
2.Once the rice is well cooked and water is completely soaked, add ingredients 3,4 & 5.
3.Stir it well till the mik is completely evaporatedand the sweet gets thickned.
4.Make sure that it wont get burned in the bottom of the vessel.
5.Taste it and add more flavours with the above ingredients according to your taste.
NB: At the last stage, you can heat up 2tspn of ghee and fry some cashews and white raisens. Add this to your sweet and serve it hot. You can also try all different stuffs with this same rice. Like try adding some condensed milk with few drops of vanilla essence or strawberry and on. I usually make it simple just to get rid of those extra calories.
